💡 Words with dotted underlines are defined in the Glossary
Build Your Action Plan
You’ve learned a lot. You’ve done the audit. You’ve thought about systemic change. Now: What are YOU actually going to do?
This isn’t hypothetical. This is YOUR plan. For YOUR life. In YOUR community. Starting NOW.
⏱️ 3-Month Plan (Starting NOW)
What are you going to DO in the next 3 months? Specific. Measurable. Real.
Examples: Reduce single-use plastic by 50%. Start composting. Visit a Repair Cafe. Join a community garden. Try a zero waste shop.
🎯 1-Year Vision (Bigger Picture)
One year from now, what will have changed in your life and your community? This is where you build the bigger vision.
Examples: Circular shopping is normal for you. You’ve repaired instead of replaced things multiple times. You’re involved in a community initiative. Your household waste to landfill is 30% lower.
🌟 3-Year Dream (Systemic Thinking)
Three years from now, what’s the bigger vision? Not just for you, but for your community. For Tasmania. This is where you contribute to systemic change.
Examples: You’re leading a community initiative. Your workplace has changed its supply chain. Local policy has changed. More zero waste shops exist. Repair Cafes are mainstream.
Barriers Planning (Be Real)
What will get in your way? Plan for it now.
Your Barriers Worksheet
For your 3-month plan, ask:
- What will get in the way? (Time? Money? Inconvenience? Family resistance?)
- How will you handle it? (Specific solutions, not vague good intentions)
- Who can help? (Friends? Family? Community?)
- What’s your backup plan? (If plan A fails, what’s plan B?)
Being real about barriers is what makes plans actually happen.
Letter to Yourself (Read it in 3 Months)
Write a letter to yourself. Write it NOW, when you’re motivated. You’ll read it in 3 months.
What to Include
- Why this matters to you (personally)
- What you’re committing to do (be specific)
- How you’ll feel when you succeed
- What to do if you get stuck
- Who to reach out to for support
- A specific date you’ll read this letter again
Pro tip: Make it emotional, not just logical. Your future self needs to be reminded why this matters.
What Happens After This Course?
You now have an action plan. A vision. A letter to yourself. Here’s what comes next:
✓ Do Your Actions
Actually do the things. Start today. Not someday. Today.
📞 Stay Connected
Join the community. Share your progress. Support others.
📈 Measure Impact
Track what changes. See the impact. Share data with community.
🌱 Scale It
What you learn, teach others. What works, scale. You’re part of bigger change.
💚 You Did It
You’ve made it through 6 weeks of circular economy learning. You’ve traced products. You’ve tracked waste. You’ve thought about systemic change.
Most importantly: You now have a plan. You know what you’re going to do. And you have the tools, the knowledge, and the community to actually do it.
